Over 1,000 students taste-tested Modern Milk’s Chocolate with a Hint of Fudge, Coffee with a Hint of Vanilla or Strawberry with a Hint of Cream, revealing a staggering 95% liked the range and a further 84% said they would purchase the vitamin D boosting soft drink option again.
Simon Muschamp, Head of Marketing, Pritchitts, says; “The feedback from students has been nothing but positive since our launch. Our research highlights there is a real gap in the market for a great tasting and healthier alternative to empty calorie, fizzy drinks. Students want and will buy Modern Milk, so it is essential caterers listen and realise the money making potential available to them.”
Since launching in October, Pritchitts – the foodservice division of Lakeland Dairies – has been driving student demand for Modern Milk through sampling and social media, as well as rewarding fans with the chance to win one of ten smartphones of their choice, every week through its Smart Choice promotion.

Made with natural flavouring, semi-skimmed milk and added vitamin D, Modern Milk provides 16-21 year olds with a fantastic source of calcium and the ‘sunshine vitamin’ which aids strong bones and teeth. This flavoursome product also makes a healthy, filling snack between meals and a convenient on-the-go breakfast option.
The research also revealed Chocolate with a Hint of Fudge was the favourite among students with 54% of the votes, followed by Strawberry with a Hint of Cream (24%) and Coffee with a Hint of Vanilla (22%) coming a close second and third. With a long ambient shelf life Modern Milk is hassle free, but is best served chilled and enjoyed straight from the fridge. It comes in a 330ml fully-recyclable carton with a straw, making it ideal for drinking on-the-go and vending machines.
Modern Milk has a shelf-life of seven months and is available in 27 x 330ml trays.
